Finally the time has arrived for a proper Euro trip. Since we're at it we might as well make it a pilgrimage to the holy land of beer where the most important event, Oktoberfest was being celebrated. Our travel took us through Bavaria (Germany), Bohemia (Czech Republic), Austria, and Northern Italy, starting at Munich and ending in Rome. In the process we visited some 17 towns and cities in a span of 22 days. Thanks to a predorminantly liquid diet, the Euro, and lugging around some 8 pints of beer, I came back some 4-5kg lighter. It was a wonderful experience.
The 8 pints, from left, 2 Augustiners from Munich, Schlenkerla Rauchbier (smoked beer), Wiezen and Märzen styles from Bamberg, the original Pilsener Urquell and Gambrinus from Pilsen, Puntigamer and Ottakringer dunkles from Austria.
